Ben and Amy have the kind of love story everyone wishes they had.
Both of their families have a strong Christian faith, which is where their story begins. As just preteens, they met at a church camp and have been growing in love and life together ever since. Their dedication to each other and God was so evident throughout their entire day.
Bridal prep, ceremony, and reception all took place at the Barn at Willow Grove in Mayport, PA. The weather was sunny and unseasonably warm for a mid-May wedding! But it made for a perfect outdoor ceremony by the pond and gorgeous portraits on the hill at sunset.
The day was full of happy tears, beginning with Amy’s sister and dad when they first saw her in her gown. The next tears may have been me watching bride and groom have an intimate moment of prayer before the ceremony! This took some pre-planning, because Amy and Ben did not want to see each other before it was time, but both did well to avert their eyes as they held hands and took comfort in each other’s company.
After toasts, dinner, and dances, we sneaked out for some sunset portraits on the highest point of the property and it was definitely worth it! They had plenty of time left to party with friends and family in the reception barn before the remaining guests lit the night up with their sparkler send off!
So much of this wedding day reminded me of my own! Finding your soul mate before even graduating college is rare. The level of commitment I see in these two young people is hard to find in couples twice their age. This commitment and the way their families and friends pulled together to make this day come true – especially during some unforeseeable hiccups! – was such a testimony of their faith.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Kurtz!
